Playoff Push!

Go Devils!

That should grab some attention from Leaf fans hoping for a playoff push.

The Devils have sort of been my team for a long time now. I don't follow as religiously as some hockey fans do, but I have been cheering for them since about '94 I think (I have a Brodeur jersey that is too small for me now to prove it).

In reality though, to go 23-3-2 over 28 games after starting as the worst team in the league is a pretty impressive turnaround. That would be an impressive run for any team, even the league's best. I would just like to say that when they fired John McLean and brought back Lemaire, I kind of called a big turnaround. I mean, I don't think anyone expected that big of one, but I have been calling for a playoff push for some time now. I just can't believe it's actually becoming a real possibility. Out of the 3 or 4 teams making a push in the East, I think the Devils definitely have the best chance, having the most games left and being the hottest team of them all.

Who knows though. The reality is they still have to pass several teams, so it's a bit of a long shot (for both the Devils and the Leafs, mind you).  All I know is that if they do manage to squeak in, I wouldn't want to be the team that gets that matchup. In a perfect world, they get a matchup against the Caps in the first round, and send Ovechkin home with his tail between his legs.

Here's hoping.
